In 1992, when Adidas was still manufacturing its equipment, the sponsor of the Liverpool jersey became Carlsberg. At that time, Liverpool's equipment was manufactured by Umbro, the English sports brand, and this partnership with Umbro continued until 1985, when Adidas supplied Liverpool's kits. This Liverpool kit was the last in which the Reds won a league title and, for this reason, will be forever engraved in Liverpool's history. Liverpool were nearing the end of their six-year, 12 million pound per season contract with the German manufacturer and were hoping to extend it, but Herbert Hainer, CEO of Adidas, said no because, well, Liverpool did a bit poorly.
